I’m dying, Mummy, cried little boy in the car he hit

- Daily Mail Reporter

THE court heard dramatic victim impact statements yesterday from the two families involved in the collision.

A mother, named only as Dr Ng, said her nine- year- old son thought he was dying in the moments after Ant McPartlin crashed into her BMW.

In a statement read by the prosecutor, she said her son had been left in shock and she has not been able to return to work.

It said: ‘The black Mini came in the opposite direction far too fast round the bend.

‘After colliding with the [other green] Mini, the car had a broken left front side which had already dropped down and was scraping on the ground as it collided head on with my vehicle.

‘I immediately looked over at my son to see if he was OK and he said, “I’m dying, Mummy, I’m dying”.

‘I saw he was physically fine with no major injuries, but in shock. He said the black Mini had come round the corner like a rocket. This has been distressing for myself and my son.

‘I’m horrified at how someone can drive so dangerously.

‘I genuinely thought the driver of the black Mini had died as there was no movement and it was a really forceful crash. The driver of the black Mini exited the vehicle. I could see the airbags had deployed.

‘As a result of the collision I have not been able to return to work. It has greatly affected my private and work life.’

Faheem Vanoo, whose green Mini was the first vehicle to be hit by McPartlin’s black Mini, said he believed his family would have been killed if he had not swerved his car out of the way.

The restaurant owner had been in the car with his daughter Amaira, four, and her mother Shilpa Dandekar.

In a statement read to the court, he said: ‘The black Mini came down the road on my side of the lane facing the wrong side of the road.

‘I moved to the left to avoid a serious head- on collision. We were hit with considerable force, causing us to move around in the car. My wife’s face hit the car seat causing injury to her face.

‘My family were in considerable shock and believe if I had not taken evasive action we could have died as a result of Mr McPartlin’s reckless driving.

‘My car is not driveable as a result of this collision.’

‘We could have all been killed’
