Sick baby dilemma
For the third time in 12 months, the parents of another desperately ill baby have lost their protracted high Court battle to stop medics turning off their child’s life-support system.
Little Charlie Gard died last July and Isaiah haastrup in March after similar judgments; now alfie evans faces the same fate. Doctors argued that the children had no quality of life.
What puzzles me is that the same could be said of a number of elderly people in our care homes and NhS wards.
Yet we would never countenance the State ending their lives.
Why is it so different for tiny babies?
