has said he’s battled back from depression and is ready to win snooker’s World Championship, which begins today at the Crucible in Sheffield. Allen said: ‘I went through a bad spell for months. I wouldn’t leave the house.’ The world No 16, who faces Liam Highfield in the first round, consulted a psychologist but is now ready for the challenge. ‘It’s a gruelling 17 days but someone has to reach the final — hopefully me.’
