Pep confirms deal talks

- By CHRIS WHEELER

PEP GUARDIOLA has revealed that he will discuss a new contract with Manchester City after clinching the Premier League title, but will only continue at the Etihad as long as he has ‘the strength and energy’. Guardiola needed a sabbatical year in 2012 after four hugely successful seasons at Barcelona. But the Spaniard is expected to extend his current three-year contract at City by a further 12 months until 2020. ‘We are going to speak with the club at the end of the season,’ said Guardiola. ‘At that time, we are going to see what they think. ‘It also depends on my energy and strength to keep going. Now I feel good. I feel comfortable being here. We will speak with Txiki Begiristain, Ferran Soriano and Khaldoon Al Mubarak. We are going to decide what is best for the club.’ Asked if he could stay more than four years, Guardiola added: ‘I don’t know. Now the people say we are champions, everyone’s happy, and immediately you lose that feeling. ‘I am pretty sure the other teams are preparing better to beat us, and if we stop they will catch us. Now let’s see how we handle it. ‘I know how the players reacted to a bad season, but still I don’t know how they react to success.’
