Stop grovelling to EU

-

LIKE most people who voted Leave, had the result gone the other way, I would have resigned myself to that fact and not sought to overturn a democratic decision.

Sadly, failed politicians, retired civil servants and hangers-on have taken it upon themselves to ridicule this country in the eyes of the Eu.

Do they really want us to grovel to the Eu, with our tail between our legs, begging them to let us stay?

Can they not see the damage they are doing to us as a nation and, in particular, to the archaic and discredited House of Lords?

DAVID G. ROSE, Leominster, Herefordshire. DO THOSE MPs in favour of remaining in the customs union have no confidence that our Prime Minister and Brexit negotiators will be able to arrange mutually beneficial deals from 85 per cent of the world and Commonwealth trade outside the Eu?

I believe emerging nations will forge ahead while an Eu in turmoil will simply stagnate.

GEOFF NEAUM, Heydon, Cambs. WE HAvE been in the Eu for only 40 years, but we were a successful trading country for hundreds of years before that. Even napoleon called us a nation of shopkeepers.

It is time for the scaremongers to

hold their tongues. I believe that this country will thrive once we are unfettered by EU red tape. MAGGIE DE VOS, Eastbourne, E. Sussex.
