EDERSON PENALTY SNUB

- By KIERAN GILL TV: West Ham v Man City LIVE on Sky Sports Main Event tomorrow. Kick-off 2.15pm.

PEP GUARDIOLA is refusing to let Ederson take a penalty despite his ambition to switch from goalkeeper to goalscorer.

Manchester City fans sang for Ederson to take a spot-kick in last Sunday’s 5-0 win over Stoke — and the Brazilian admitted he wants to score. City have wrapped up the title but Guardiola says his players will not disrespect opponents.

‘That’s not going to happen,’ he said when asked about his keeper’s hopes. ‘There are other players to hit them. There is respect for the opponent, respect for competitions. In friendlies maybe he can do it but in a league game, no.’

City go to West Ham tomorrow with a shot at closing to within two points of the Premier League points record set by Chelsea in 2005. They are also just five goals off Chelsea’s record tally of 103 with four games left — and Guardiola warned he has no intention of easing off, saying: ‘It’s not for the record itself but to help us keep focus on what we have to do against West Ham, Huddersfield and Brighton.’

West Ham boss David Moyes has spent the week coaching his side how to play without the ball because he knows City will dominate at the London Stadium.

‘You can’t play City with one formation,’ Moyes said. ‘You need to have two or three because if you find a way to stop them or work them out, they’ll overrun it.’
