I WANT TO SAVE THE SEALS

-

MARTIN DOREY is the founder of the 2 Minute Beach Clean movement and author of a new book, No. More. Plastic.

He says he will be out on the beach at Bude with his family: ‘Our #2 minute beach clean community is on the beach every day, picking up plastic left by the tide.

‘It’s worse after storms — or, sadly, sometimes after busy summer days — and every tide brings more.

‘It’s vital for us to get it off the beach, and as much of it recycled as possible, before it gets washed back out again.

‘I don’t want to be the one who walks past the bottle that degrades into 1,000 pieces of microplastic or the piece of rope that ends up strangling a seal.

‘Everyone has a part to play in the plastic crisis, whether that’s quitting single-use plastics, recycling more or picking up litter that’s already there.

‘Don’t think you can’t make a difference, because you can. Every piece matters.’
