Peston invites six guests on his show ...they’re ALL Remainers

- By Claire Ellicott

ROBERT Peston was branded out of touch with the country after his programme featured a panel of six Remain voters.

The ITV’s political editor hosted the guests on Sunday, but not one represented the country’s majority Leave vote.

They included Remain campaigners Peter Mandelson and Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon as well as Tory MP Sarah Wollaston who voted against the Government on the Brexit bill. Also featured were union baron Len McCluskey, Culture Secretary Matt Hancock and outgoing CBI chairman Paul Drechsler, who has repeatedly criticised Brexit.

The Guido Fawkes website calculated that the chances of six remain voters being selected from the general population was 0.01, triggering a Twitter row. Mr Peston said the calculation was based on a ‘false premise’ and said that he found it interesting that Brexit votes ‘trumped’ party allegiance.

Former Tory advisor Iain Dale tweeted that the Peston programme was an ‘indulgent, Remainer w***fest on #PestonOnSunday today’.

Last night, Tory MP Andrew Bridgen said: ‘The probability of getting six Remainers in a row is ludicrously low.

‘I really struggle to ever see a political panel on the BBC, Sky or ITV that’s every got a majority of Leavers on it.

‘I think that reflects the London media bubble which distorts our political perspective and emphasises the disparity in political views between our capital and the rest of the country.’
