Thumper the bunny was a right bruiser

My husband was returning from the shops when a large fluffy pet rabbit scampered out of a gate in front of him. he started to chase the animal as it was heading towards a dangerously busy road. he dodged the traffic, managed to catch up with the escapee and proceeded to carry it back to its hutch. but Thumper had enjoyed his new-found freedom and put up a vigorous fight, kicking out with its hind legs and painfully pummelling my husband’s hands, causing severe bruising. he had to get medical help for his injuries and was red-faced to tell the nurse he had been thumped by a big, white rabbit. The reward for his kind deed was a jab on a very tender spot, so he came home with one hand bandaged and rubbing his behind! he said: ‘I only popped out for a newspaper!’ Pat O’Connor, Blackpool, Lancs.
