Manhunt for restaurant bombers who wounded 15

- Mail Foreign Service

POLICE were hunting two suspects last night over the bombing of an Indian restaurant in Canada that left 15 wounded.

The men, wearing hoods and with their faces covered, were seen entering the Bombay Bhel late on Thursday before dropping a device and fleeing.

Three people were critically injured in an explosion shortly afterwards and were taken to hospital, while 12 suffered minor injuries.

Police said two separate parties were being held in the restaurant and children under ten were present, but not injured.

The condition of the critically injured patients was later updated to stable.

Regional police chief Jennifer Evans said ‘there is no indication’ the blast in Mississauga, near Toronto, was an act of terrorism or a hate crime, but ‘we haven’t ruled anything out’.

She added: ‘Every police resource is being used to locate the people responsible for this horrendous act.’

Student Rafael Conceicao, who was nearby when the explosion happened around 10.30pm, said there was ‘lots of blood on the floor and many people were screaming, trying to run out from the restaurant’.
