WITH half term already upon us and June just days away, summer has arrived in all its splendour.

With your own characterful base to return to, every day can be an adventure, whether exploring stately homes, strolling amid bright flowers on coastal paths or sampling tasty food in welcoming hostelries.
And the best thing about a cottage holiday is that you have total freedom to follow your own schedule, with more privacy than in a hotel and, quite possibly, big savings per person, too.
