STAKE STEMS
MOST hardy perennials and some annuals benefit from support. Plants grown in highly fertile ground, or in exposed positions, are especially vulnerable. It’s best to conceal as much of your support paraphernalia as you can, or to use unobtrusive natural materials such as pea sticks or hazel wands with non-coloured or green jute string. Some of the most effective supports are metal linkstakes which can be intertwined. For border fronts, two-pronged, bowshaped supports can prevent plants from slumping.
