Lah Ti Dar ruled out of the Oaks

- MARCUS TOWNEND

FAVOURITE Lah Ti Dar has been taken out of the Investec Oaks on Friday after trainer John Gosden was not satisfied with the results of a routine blood test. The daughter of Dubawi, who would have been ridden by Frankie Dettori, was as short as 15-8 for next week’s Classic after winning her first two races. Gosden said: ‘She will not be able to work this weekend, so in view of that she will not be running at Epsom.’ Gosden hopes Lah Ti Dar can run in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 21, but the setback adds to the Oaks hoodoo of her owners Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber. In 2012 their filly The Fugue was an unlucky-inrunning third while So Mi Dar, Lah Ti Dar’s half sister, was ruled out by injury in 2016. The new 4-1 Oaks favourite is Charlie Appleby-trained, Godolphin-owned 1,000 Guineas fourth Wild Illusion. Appleby’s 1,000 Guineas sixth Soliloquy is the only British-based challenger for tomorrow’s Irish 1,000 Guineas. Aidan O’Brien has four runners including Newmarket Guineas third Happily (Ryan Moore) and 2017 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Clemmie (Seamus Heffernan). Karl Burketrained Laurens, the 1,000 Guineas runner-up, runs in the Group One Prix Saint-Alary at Longchamp tomorrow.
