Masar makes Eclipse swap
DERBY winner Masar has been cut to 15-8 favourite for the Coral Eclipse Stakes on July 7 after a change of plan which will see him run at Sandown rather than in the Irish Derby. Trainer Charlie Appleby and owner Sheik Mohammed initially favoured a trip to the Curragh on June 30 with the colt, who carries the Godolphin blue colours. But it has now been decided to drop two furlongs in distance by going for the 10-furlong Eclipse. Appleby said: ‘We will leave him in the Irish Derby, just to keep all options open, but the intention is to run in the Eclipse. ‘Dropping back in trip will be no problem. He has plenty of speed.’ AIDAN O’BRIEN’S Tattersalls Gold Cup winner Lancaster Bomber is out of Royal Ascot with a foot problem. The colt had been a possible rival for Cracksman in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes.
