Eyes right

NEWS of the Queen undergoing a cataract operation made me think: ‘How long would she have waited on the NHS?’

Last year, I had the same procedure carried out on both eyes on the health service. I saw the GP for the first time in January — and by June, I was able to see my usual optician for a prescription for reading glasses.

I know I was lucky, and I am grateful to all involved in my treatment. Mr D. SMITH, Skelmersdale, Lancs.
