MARTIAL ‘WANTS TO LEAVE’ UNITED

MANCHESTER UNITED were rocked last night when French forward Anthony Martial’s representative said he wants to leave the club. Months of negotiations over a new long-term contract at Old Trafford have reached an impasse, with Philippe Lamboley claiming Martial, 22, is unhappy at a lack of assurances over his role. ARSENAL are continuing talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a £20m deal for keeper Bernd Leno. The outlay could be offset by the sale of David Ospina, 29, to Mexican side Tigres. Arsenal hope to seal the £26.5m signing of Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira — born in Fray Bentos, Uruguay — by the weekend.

FORMER Oldham striker Frankie Bunn (left) has returned to the club as first-team manager. The 55-year-old, who scored 35 goals in 88 games for Oldham between 1987 and 1990, has signed a one-year deal to succeed Richie Wellens. Wellens, who only took over from John Sheridan in October, left his role last week after failing to prevent Oldham slipping into League Two on the final day of the season.
