Yoo-hoo, Ma’am, I’m over here!

- By Georgia Edkins

PLenTY of racegoers will have been excited to see the Queen at royal Ascot yesterday – but none more so, it appears, than the Duchess of York.

Sarah, 58, waved enthusiastically as the monarch arrived at the Berkshire course.

Then she performed such an extravagantly deep curtsey that some might have wondered if she would ever make it all the way back up again.

The duchess, wearing a navy dress by roland Mouret teamed with a hat by Philip Treacy, was joined by her ex-husband Prince Andrew – who simply doffed his top hat as his mother’s carriage went past – and their daughter Princess Beatrice, 29.

The Queen, 92, wore a lime green dress coat and matching hat with pink rose detailing for her day at the races.

Also catching the eye were her royal protection officers, who drove into Ascot with a cheery wave – and assault rifles across their laps.

The four well-dressed officers represented a beefing-up of security for this year’s races, compared to the sole armed protection officer who was seen guarding the Queen last year.
