Roseanne show reprieved ... but Roseanne won’t be in it!

-

Spin-off: Barr with John Goodman THE popular US sitcom Roseanne has been resurrected again – but without Roseanne.

The ABC network has commissioned a spin-off show, The Conners, that will not feature Roseanne Barr. It will star Sara Gilbert, John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf, as well as other Roseanne actors, and is due to be broadcast in the autumn.

The revived Roseanne series was axed after controversial star Barr, 65, posted a racist tweet referring to a former Barack Obama adviser.

According to ABC, ten episodes of the series have been ordered and Barr will have no financial or creative involvement. It is unclear how Barr’s character will be written out of the show but ABC said it will be ‘a sudden turn of events’.

In a statement, cast members Goodman, Metcalf, Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman said: ‘We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return.’
