A-level maths answers sold online for £200
PoLICE have been called in over allegations that questions from friday’s A-level maths exam were leaked online.
Exam board Edexcel, which wrote the paper, said it had reports of a ‘limited breach of security’ regarding the test, which was taken by around 50,000 pupils in England.
It is thought an anonymous person was trying to sell the answers to students for £200 on Thursday while sharing the first question in a bid to lure buyers.
In the hours running up to the exam, screenshots of an online chat between the seller and students were uploaded onto Twitter, which then went viral.
one dismayed pupil said: ‘The “supposed”’ first question in the screenshot WAS the first question in the exam today! ... now hundreds of people are not going to get the grades they deserve.’
The exam board has pledged to ensure no-one is disadvantaged. A spokesman for Pearson, which runs Edexcel, said: ‘We have opened an investigation into whether there has been any exam malpractice ... We are also contacting the police on the issue.’ Exams regulator ofqual said it was ‘working to establish the facts’.
