Hurry up, Mummy, we’re ever so peckish!

WHEN her young brood’s feeling hungry, it can leave mum all aflutter. This swallow had her work cut out as her five fledglings perched openbeaked on a stable door in Corwen, north Wales – so she flew into action with a few tasty grubs to keep her little ones happy. The moment was captured by wildlife photographer Richard Bowler, who didn’t have to travel far to take the picture; the stables where the swallows have been nesting belong to him.
