Bee fears Saxon Warrior’s sting
THE team behind Derby runner-up Dee Ex Bee are ‘under no illusions’ about the task facing their colt in Saturday’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh. The Mark Johnston-trained son of Farhh, runner-up to Masar at Epsom, is one of 14 possible starters for the Co Kildare showpiece after being supplemented at a cost of €100,000. Charlie Johnston, assistant trainer to his father and speaking to Racing UK, said: ‘Dee Ex Bee is in great order and has come out of the race really well. We are under no illusions that we are taking on (Aidan O’Brien’s) Saxon Warrior in his own backyard and he will no doubt have a couple of stablemates there to help him. ‘But we would hope that the Curragh would suit Dee Ex Bee even better than Epsom did, so there is plenty to look forward to.’
