I’D DEFY ANYONE TO GUESS MY AGE
SUE WILKINSON, 52, is a yoga teacher and lives in Hampshire. She has two children, aged 25 and 26. I KNOW swimsuits are very fashionable now, but it’s one trend I won’t be following. I feel great in a bikini and I’m determined to wear one as often as possible.
It wasn’t always this way. When I had my two children, with only 18 months between them, there was no time to look after myself. I ate whatever was to hand — no matter how unhealthy it was — and had no muscle tone. I looked like a triangle, with wide hips and a skinny upper body.
It was only when the children started school that I had any time to myself. I started to do Pilates, and I enjoyed it so much that I became a teacher.
I also do weight training and cycling, and I am happier with my body than I’ve ever been.
I’d defy anyone who sees me in a bikini now to accurately guess my age. far from being the stereotypical ‘invisible’ woman in her 50s, I’ve got far too much confidence to want to blend into the background in a boring old swimsuit.
