Follow Germany
WITH reference to ‘Britain spends twice as much on homeless as Germany’ (Mail), it does not surprise me that Germany pays out less. The cost of houses and rent in that county is between a third to a half cheaper than in the UK.
The speculative use of housing stock by overseas investors and speculator/ landlords is at the core of what’s wrong in this country.
Too much of the take-home pay of hardworking families and the younger generation is being spent on mortgage and rent, rather than in the wider economy.
It seems that Germany, an envied economy, has worked this out.
