Perfect perch for Wimbledon

Shower or bath? How to choose

-

HAVING a chair that supports you makes life easier and much more comfortable — while also providing a perfect perch from which to enjoy summer events such as the World Cup or Wimbledon.

There is quite a choice of chair types, from those that will fit into a small space, known as wallhuggers, to models that provide a high leg lift, which allows you to raise your feet above your hips while you relax. This provides support for aching legs and helps to improve circulation.

For full control over your chair, choose a dual motor design, which enables you to control the back of the chair and the footrest separately, positioning the chair how you want it.

nSUMMER nights can be hot and sticky affairs, making it harder to nod off at bedtime.

And with light flooding in from the early hours, staying asleep as long as we’d like in the morning doesn’t always come easy. Establishing a bedtime routine always helps — and it’s a good idea to start winding down a few hours before you want to go to sleep.

That includes turning off screens at least an hour before you want to fall asleep.

A comfortable, supportive bed with a quality mattress can make a world of difference to your sleep.

And an adjustable bed allows you to get in a more comfortable position, while helping to ease swollen legs, breathing problems and backache. WALK-IN bath or shower — which makes the best choice? A walk-in bath, accessed by a door with a low step, is very relaxing to soak in, and can help to ease joint conditions such as arthritis. The latest baths will often include a heated seat to keep you warm as the tub fills or drains. And there are spacesaver types to fit small bathrooms. Choose a bath if you have issues with balance, experience joint pain and want to relax your muscles or have children in the house who need to use a bath. For speed and ease, walk-in showers are hard to beat. Half-height doors, wider frames and low trays make them very accessible, so they are a great choice if you find it hard to get in and out of a standard bath. A shower can usually sit in the footprint of the old tub. Otherwise, the bathroom layout can be changed slightly. There is also the option of keeping your old bath, but using an inflatable bath cushion or a retractable bath belt to get into it more easily. Either will lower you gently in and out of the water at the press of a button.
