Eriksen sorry for bore draw
TOTTENHAM midfielder Christian Eriksen has apologised for the bore draw with France and vowed that Denmark will be entertaining in the knockout stages. The sides were booed off in Moscow after playing out the first scoreless draw of the tournament. With both needing a point to go through, it was clear that neither were prepared to take risks. Denmark face Croatia in the next round and Eriksen said: ‘We’re the players, so we want to entertain, but a game like this where we were OK with a draw and France were OK with a draw, it’s going to be a boring game for the fans. Sorry for that, but we got the result we wanted, so we’re happy.’ With Peru beating Australia 2-0 early in the second half of their game — played at the same time on Tuesday — Denmark could have gone top of the group had they pushed on to beat France. But Eriksen said: ‘We didn’t know the Peru score so we weren’t going to take any chances. ‘If Peru had’ve been winning 5-0, I’d have wanted to know, but we weren’t told. It was a boring last 10 minutes but football is like that sometimes.’
