Dozy Google’s alarm blunder

-

MILLIONS of people across the globe found themselves sleeping in yesterday after their alarms failed to go off because of a Google Home glitch.

The system’s smart devices, which work as speakers and are connected to phones, serve for many as an alarm clock.

But a technical glitch meant many Google Home speakers were temporarily unable to respond to queries or work as planned. The outage, which lasted up to 12 hours, is thought to have affected millions.

The devices normally respond to queries or carry out tasks such as playing a song when asked. Any requests yesterday were met with the response of ‘There was a glitch’ or ‘Sorry, something went wrong’.

The tech giant apologised and said it had corrected the issue, which also hit some Chromecast streaming devices.
