At 54, is Brigitte putting her baby first or herself?

BRIGITTE NIELSEN has shared the first picture of her newborn daughter. The 54-year-old welcomed baby Frida on June 22, her first child with husband Mattia Dessi, 39.

‘Our precious little Frida, our true love,’ she gurgled.

Nielsen is already a mother to four sons from a three previous marriages: Raoul Meyer Jr, 23; Douglas Meyer, 25; Killian Gastineau, 28; and Julian Winding, 34.

She married Dessi, her fifth husband, in 2006 — and they seem to have been trying for a baby ever since. Heaven knows how Brigitte fell off the cliff of declining fertility to produce this little tot — but it is indeed a miracle of sorts.

‘It’s been a long road, and so worth it. We’ve never been more in love,’ said Mum. But surely it’s not about them, but about Frida?

Brigitte has had a baby at a time most women think twice about having a baby rabbit. I do wish her all the best, but a part of me thinks her burst of late motherhood is entirely selfish. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
