a FeW years ago when my granddaughter, Saskia, was three and grandson, Toby, was two, my daughter, Sam, was having a piece of her lounge ceiling repaired. One morning, Sam went up the ladder to see what progress was being made. Unfortunately, she then fell off the ladder and landed on the floor in a heap, having done some damage to herself. Saskia, who happened to be in the room, said: ‘Shall i go and tell someone, Mummy?’ ‘Yes please, darling,’ said my daughter, thinking she would go and fetch the au pair. after a while, Saskia came back into the lounge and my daughter said: ‘Did you tell someone, darling?’ ‘Yes,’ came Saskia’s reply. ‘i told Toby.’ i don’t think Toby was much help!
