Sheeran won’t be going to the chapel to wed

-

HE has managed to keep his wedding plans top secret. But there’s one thing we know Ed Sheeran definitely won’t be doing on his big day – getting married in a chapel on his estate.

The singer’s dreams of marrying his girlfriend in a purpose-built flint chapel at his Suffolk home were dashed last night after planning officials rejected his application.

They ruled against the 24-seat Saxon-style chapel after deciding it would ‘conflict with the character of the landscape’ and would cause light pollution and ‘create the impression of a second village church’.

The singer- songwriter, 27, made the application to Suffolk Coastal District Council in January shortly after proposing to long-term girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, 26. However the plan attracted criticism and concern about wildlife, including a colony of endangered great crested newts.

Meanwhile, the singer is being sued for £76million in New York for allegedly copying parts of the late Marvin Gaye’s 1973 song Let’s Get It On with his 2014 number one Thinking Out Loud. The claim has been brought by a company which owns part of the copyright of Gaye’s song. Sheeran’s spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.
