FA HAVE 2,000 MOSCOW TICKETS STILL UNSOLD

- SAMI MOKBEL

THE FA have sold fewer than half their allocation for Tuesday’s last-16 clash with Colombia. Manager Gareth Southgate has described the game as England’s biggest for a decade but so far the FA have sold just over 1,500 of their 3,500 tickets for the tie in Moscow’s Spartak Stadium. That does not include FIFA’s general sale to supporters in the UK but the FA will hope for a surge in demand as they look to sell out their allocation. With England’s final group game against Belgium taking place on Thursday, fans planning to go to Moscow could still be struggling with travel plans before confirming their tickets. There have been noticeably fewer England supporters at this World Cup than at previous tournaments. Concerns over potential violence and political tensions between the UK and Russian governments have been cited as reasons why some fans did not make the trip. However, so far the tournament has been good natured and largely trouble free, and the FA will hope to have a large contingent of supporters in Moscow as Southgate’s side look to book their place in the quarter-final.
