Corbyn ‘will back new poll’
ONE of Jeremy Corbyn’s trade union allies has predicted the Labour leader will come out in support of a second referendum on leaving the EU by the end of the year.
Manuel Cortes, general secretary of the Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association, told a meeting of Left-wing activists that Mr Corbyn should fight ‘tooth and nail’ against Brexit, adding: ‘By winter, Labour will be backing a second referendum.’
The comments come as Mr Corbyn faces pressure to back another vote from Unite, the country’s biggest union, and far-Left campaign group Momentum. However, he told Sky News yesterday: ‘We are not supporting a second referendum.’
