HOW TO WATCH

Wimbledon is live on the BBC from 11am today and from 11.30am on all other days.

Sue Barker leads the coverage from the studio and is joined by pundits including John McEnroe (below), Martina Navratilova, Boris Becker, Billie Jean King and Tim Henman.

Clare Balding hosts the highlights programme Today at

Wimbledon every evening at 8.30pm.

Radio coverage is on BBC 5 Live and 5 Live Sports Extra.

If you want to watch a match that is not being broadcast live on TV, you can catch the action from up to 16 different courts on the BBC website, which is streaming live in HD.

The BBC is also offering Centre Court matches in Ultra HD for the first time. If you have a smart TV you can watch in Ultra HD through BBC iPlayer but it is first come, first served as there are only a limited number of streams.

WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR?

Phase two of the No 1 Court retractable roof is complete. It is in place at the edges, giving the arena a new look, though it can’t be used until next year. The big screen attached to Court 1 has doubled in width, so more fans on Henman Hill will get a view.

The time players are allowed to take between points has increased from 20 to 25 seconds. This brings Wimbledon into line with the rest of the Tour. The US Open will start a shot clock to police the rule this year, but Wimbledon will leave it in the hands of the umpire.

After last year’s poor spectacle of injured players starting firstround matches before retiring and collecting their money, Wimbledon have clamped down. If a player withdraws before their first match, they receive half their prize-money. If they play below standard and then retire, they face a fine.
