HIS rippling torso has become quite the Sunday night treat for his legions of TV-watching fans. And it seems many are desperate to see Aidan Turner in the flesh.

The star of BBC1 hit Poldark was mobbed by a flock of excited women as he left a London theatre following a performance on Monday.

The Irish actor, 35, broke into smiles as he was greeted by the delighted crowd at the stage door of the Noel Coward Theatre.

Turner – famous for his topless scenes as captain Ross Poldark in the popular drama – wore a white T-shirt as he posed for pictures and signed autographs for his thrilled audience. He once called the enthusiastic response to his semi-naked scenes ‘madness’, but has also admitted exercising daily and avoiding food until 7pm while filming to keep in shape. He is currently starring in The Lieutenant Of Inishmore, a satire about a terrorist deemed too violent to join the IRA.
