Sunbathing in the nude? Tell the neighbours first!

- By Andrew Levy

SUNBATHERS should tell their neighbours if they plan to strip off in the garden, police say.

The advice was issued by Surrey Police after a neighbour dispute over al fresco nudity in Reigate.

In a Facebook post, the force said: ‘If you want to wander around your garden naked then you have to be careful – an Englishman’s home is not quite his castle and your garden is not exempt from the law.’

It said the best approach was to tell your neighbours in advance, although it warned showing too much flesh could result in a probe for indecent exposure or outraging public decency.

Not everyone welcomed the tip. Johnny Boyo commented: ‘Get on and do some proper policing.’

Dame Esther Rantzen revealed on Radio 4 yesterday she was a fan of naked sunbathing – and was once caught wearing only a hat and necklace when a neighbour came round with their children.
