Best of pri-mates! Moment thrilled chimp is reunited with ‘father’ who raised him

- Mail Foreign Service

IT’S the type of warm, loving hug most people go bananas for.

This is the moment Limbani the chimpanzee swung into action and embraced the man who raised him after he was abandoned by his mother.

Jorge Sanchez crept up behind him as he drank through a straw at a zoo in Miami. He called out his name and a thrilled Limbani turned round, jumped into his arms and hugged him tenderly.

Jorge was visiting the Zoological Wildlife Foundation with wife Tania, who was also greeted with joy. They helped provide round-the-clock care for the first few months of his life after he was abandoned while suffering from pneumonia.

The couple regularly visit Limbani at the zoo – and even though there can be months between visits, staff say his reaction is ‘always the same’.
