Today’s poem

-

I turned on the weather forecast To see what it would say So I could make a decision On what to wear that day. It said there’s a chance of thunder And a high expectation of rain But the sun was behind a fluffy cloud So may blaze through again. The isobars looked daunting — Too daunting for my liking, As the warning turned to amber With a sky-high chance of lightning. The jet stream looked more friendly Coming in from the west But with a 50 per cent chance of a U-turn I may have to wear my vest! We may well have a hurricane Or just a summer breeze, Surely it should be easy enough To decide which one of these! It may become quite cloudy, It could break into rain, Or we may have a heatwave — The chances were just the same! From a little precipitation Causing a little damp mud, To a seismic probability Of a Biblical-sized flood! The weather map showed a gentle mist That could turn to thick, dense fog, The only thing missing was pestilence And a plague of frogs! Were the odds against me, Or was I against the odds? The answer was above me Way up with the gods. So should I take my chances And leave the safety of my home By daring to step outside my door — And brave the great unknown?
