Gracie under fire

CONGRATULATIONS to the BBC’s former China editor Carrie Gracie on her equal pay case against the Corporation.

But how much better it would have been if she had not accepted a six- figure payout and had been content to know that she was in the right.

however generous she felt in donating it to charity, she is ultimately taking money out of all of our pockets. any compensation that is paid out by the BBC, NhS, police, councils and other public bodies comes from taxpayers. how refreshing it would be for someone to be content with an apology rather than everything having to be about money.
