RAONIC SERVES A TREAT

-

MILOS RAONIC hit a stunning 34 aces to blow away John Millman of Australia in straight sets and reach the third round. The Canadian 13th seed triumphed 7-6, 7-6, 7-6 in a match that featured a break of serve for each player in the second set. Raonic reached the third round for a sixth straight year, having lost to eventual champion Roger Federer in last year’s quarterfinals. Raonic, who lost the 2016 final to Andy Murray, will play Austrian qualifier Dennis Novak for a place in the last 16. Novak beat 16th seed Lucas Pouille of France 6-4, 6-2, 6-7, 3-6, 6-2 to reach the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time. Marin Cilic briefly resumed his match with Guido Pella on No 1 Court, but another shower saw them depart with the third-seeded Croat leading 6-3, 6-1, 3-4 — a break down in the third set.
