Mayor takes spat with Trump to new heights
THEY have long traded insults on social media – but now leftwing London Mayor Sadiq Khan has taken his spat with Donald Trump to new heights.
As the American President prepares to visit the UK next week, Mr Khan has given permission for a giant 19ft balloon depicting him as an angry, orange baby to fly near Parliament for two hours on Friday.
The former Labour MP bowed to pressure after more than 10,000 people signed a petition calling for protesters to be allowed to launch the inflatable – dubbed Trump Baby.
Activist Leo Murray said: ‘It looks like City Hall has rediscovered its sense of humour. Trump Baby will fly.’
The protest comes as a senior US embassy official voices concern about the strained relationship between Prime Minister Theresa May and Mr Trump ahead of his three-day visit.
In a documentary, the diplomat says it is ‘no secret’ that there are worries about how the two leaders get on.
