IT’S OUR TIME
Southgate urges stars to grab glory
Gareth southGate has boldly claimed that england may never have a better chance of winning the World Cup.
the manager’s rallying cry came ahead of tomorrow’s quarter- final against sweden, with the winners facing a semi-final against russia or Croatia.
southgate’s young team have already had a tournament to remember and their experiences here should give them confidence for the future. But southgate believes england have a golden chance to win their first trophy since 1966.
‘although our team will be better in two years with more life experience, maybe the cards on injuries and things won’t fall as kindly and we won’t get this opportunity again,’ he told ItV News. ‘ It’s dangerous if I start to get carried away, but I’m proud of the way we’re playing.’
If england make the final, they will play France, uruguay, Brazil or Belgium.
