Ex-West Ham chief banned after African players slur
Chief Sports Reporter WEST HAM’S former recruitment chief Tony Henry has been banned from football for a year following Sportsmail’s revelations about derogatory comments he made concerning African players. This newspaper revealed in January the 60-year-old had written in an email that the club would not be signing any more Africans because they ‘have a bad attitude’ and ‘cause mayhem’ when they are not in the team. West Ham suspended Henry immediately when the emails were revealed, sacking him days later after a full investigation into the matter. The Premier League club publicly condemned his comments, calling them ‘unacceptable’. An FA statement released yesterday said: ‘Tony Henry, former West Ham United head of player recruitment, has been suspended from all football and football-related activity for 12 months and must attend an FA education course.’
