How France rolled out red carpet
FRENCH president Emmanuel Macron gave his US counterpart the full red carpet treatment when he visited Paris almost a year ago.
Donald Trump was dined at the prestigious Le Jules Verne restaurant at the Eiffel Tower as his relationship with Mr Macron blossomed. The US president was also spared
the sight of protesting crowds, who were kept at bay in a different part of the city by French police.
The French president had invited Mr Trump to celebrate Bastille Day as part of the commemoration marking the 100th anniversary of the entry of the US into the First World War.
