sculptress daughter Jane McAdam Freud cheated death when a 100-yearold pine tree came crashing through the roof of her studio.

Inspecting the damage in Italy yesterday, the ever ingenious Jane says: ‘I’m already planning on using the massive old tree for a new artwork.’

Jane, 60, who was one of four children painter Freud fathered with fellow artist Katherine McAdam, scarcely saw her father from the age of eight until she was 31.
