Should the insulting Trump balloon be banned?

-

NO MATTER what you may think of Donald Trump, he is the U.S. President and as such deserves politeness and a welcome from the British people. For London Mayor Sadiq Khan to allow a Trump ‘blimp’, a 20 ft orange balloon depicting him as an angry baby (right), to fly over Westminster during his visit this week is a disgraceful, petulant act and not worthy of a man in his position. It will diminish the reputation of London in the eyes of the world.

THOMAS W. SAYERS, Saltburn, N. Yorks.

I AM glad Sadiq Khan has found a use for all the hot air he spouts.

JULIE SIMCOX, Eastbourne, E. Sussex.

WHERE are the British values of decency and respect? Up in the sky along with common sense and that dreadful balloon.

ANGELA GALITZINE, Vale, Guernsey.

THE Mayor of London should put his political bigotry to one side and be a diplomatic representative of our capital. He should act his age and not be rude!

FAY GOODWIN, Lutterworth, Leics.

WHY all the criticism of the Trump balloon? Lots of people do not welcome the visit of the U.S. President to this country and wish to protest. This is a witty and amusing riposte to Trump in the Great British tradition of political satire. We would all laugh if it had featured on Spitting Image.

M. SPRINGER, Reading, Berks.

IT MAY seem amusing to some, but the Trump balloon is insulting to the U.S. How would we feel if a similar balloon was flown over Washington depicting the Queen?

Mrs DOREEN HOLLAND, Retford, Notts.

WITH everything going on in London, perhaps the Mayor should concentrate on his job.

TERRY CALDON, Thanet, Kent.
