Ronaldo’s £100m Juve mega deal

CRISTIANO Ronaldo has completed his sensationa­l £100million move from Real Madrid to Juventus. Nine years after signing him from Manchester United for £80m, the chance to make a profit after enjoying the best of the 33-year- old’s career was too good to turn down.

Real issued a statement pinning his departure firmly on the player, saying: ‘In response to the will and desire of Cristiano, we have agreed to transfer him to Juventus.’ us.’

Ronaldo ( right) was as visited on holiday by y Juventus president Andrea Agnelli in the Greek islands yesterday, and said goodbye in a letter published on Real’s website.

he said: ‘These years at Real Madrid have been n possibly the happiest of my life. I only have feelings gs of enormous gratitude for this club and for the fans. But the time has come to open a new stage in my life and that is why I have asked the club to agree to transfer me.’

he thanked his team-mates and they responded, with Sergio Ramos tweeting: ‘Your goals, your stats, and everything we have won together, they do the talking for you. You deserve your place in the history of Real Madrid. It’s been a pleasure to play alongside you.’

Gareth Bale, who did not always enjoy the smoothest relationsh­ip with the Portuguese, tweeted: ‘An incredible player and a top guy! It has been a pleasure to play alongside you for the last 5 years. Good luck for the future my friend.’

The sale leaves Real needing to replace their star man — and a move for Chelsea’s eden hazard this summer could keep fans satisfied.

Neymar, for his flair on the pitch and commercial impact off it, is considered by Perez as the perfect man. But PSG are reluctant sell sellers and Real may have to wait a year until his re release clause kicks in.

Club president Florentino t Perez told Ronaldo he could leave if he found a club willing to pay ¤100m (£88m). Ronaldo’s agent Jorge M Mendes, who receives £10. £10.6m in fees, made a proposal posal to Juve when selling them full back Joao Cancelo from Valencia last month. In addition Ronaldo’s former clubs Sporting Lisbon and Manchester United will share a total of £4.4m, making the deal worth more than £100m.

Sponsors Fiat agreed to shoulder the burden of his £26.6m-a-year wages, helping to ease money fears.

Ronaldo scored 450 goals in 438 games for Real and won 15 trophies — including four Champions Leagues, three La Liga golden boots, and four Ballons d’Or.
