Stig of the Dump author dies aged 94
AUTHOR Clive King, pictured, known for children’s book Stig Of The Dump, has died aged 94.
Hailed as a classic, the book has sold more than two million copies since publication in 1963.
The tale of a boy who finds a cave-boy living in a chalk pit has been adapted for television three times. It drew on King’s adventures growing up in Kent.
Francesca Dow, of Penguin Random House Children’s, said: ‘The depiction of the vivid life and imagination of a child feel as fresh and relevant as they did when Puffin first published it.’
