Emery offers troubled Ozil a fresh start

- STOKE’S Moritz Bauer has offered to pick up a huge drinks bill for supporters if team-mate Saido Berahino’s two-year goal drought continues. The Austrian defender will open a tab for fans at the Bet365 Stadium if Berahino fails to hit the net by Christmas

NEW Arsenal manager Unai Emery has told Mesut Ozil he will be loved again at the club after a difficult season and a calamitous World Cup for Germany. The midfielder was criticised for inconsistent displays at Arsenal last season — although he still earned a bumper new contract worth £350,000 a week. Then Ozil was dropped for Germany’s last match against Sweden as his country were knocked out in the World Cup group stage. But Emery insists he can help Ozil recover his best form. He said: ‘We are here to help everyone and Mesut is very important. ‘Last year was difficult for everyone, not only Mesut. Now it’s a new way. Mesut is on holiday and I want him to be calm, then when he comes back to start hard.’
