SHE regained her beach body three months after having her third child. For Abbey Clancy, however, her pregnancy had a down side – hair loss which left her feeling insecure.

The model, 32, said she first noticed her hair thinning dramatically while she was expecting son Johnny, who was born in January.

The Strictly Come Dancing winner, who is married to footballer Peter Crouch, told Closer magazine: ‘My hair was falling out throughout my whole pregnancy with baby Johnny – and still is now, so it’s fallen out loads.

‘Every day I’m like, “My hair’s thinner and thinner” – so that’s hard and it does knock your confidence.

‘I didn’t dye my hair during pregnancy and it went quite dark but, as soon as I had the baby, I wanted to go blonder and feel more like me and get back my confidence.’

Post-pregnancy hair loss is relatively common, usually occurring between one and five months after a woman gives birth. Normally, 90 per cent of a person’s hair is growing at any time while the remaining 10 per cent enters a resting phase. The resting hairs then fall out to allow new hair to grow.

But during pregnancy, an increased number of hairs go into the resting phase, meaning more falls out. The condition is not usually serious and is temporary. Miss Clancy also said that while she loves being a parent to Sophia, seven, Liberty, three, and sixmonth-old Johnny, she finds it difficult to juggle the three.

She said: ‘That third baby just throws everything off. I’m like, “Which one do I go to first?” With two, I used to put them to bed and get a nice bath. Nowadays I’ve got dolls and kids in with me.’
