SMALL business owners can reap the rewards of going green. Mr Electric, whose franchise es provide electrical a Government-approved services, became installer of electric car charging points in March.

They can now install and manage vehicle car electrical charging points for homes, workplaces and public areas. Steve Bar low, director of Mr Electric South Cornwall Devon, says: and ‘This accreditat­ion opens up many new opportunit­ies, particular­ly as we are now able to help our customers apply for the grants for installing electical vehicle charging points.’

For domestic properties, the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme provides grants of up to 75 per cent of the installati­on cost (up to £500) for charging points. The Workplace Charging Scheme offers up to £300 per socket (for up to 20 sockets) for commercial properties. A Mr Electric franchise requires an investment of £60,000. Steve Thatcher, 43, bought the Revive! Portsmouth franchise 14 years ago and employs a team of technician­s offering a mobile paint repair service for car bodywork and alloy wheels. Steve says: ‘Part of our success is down to the support from Revive! head office, which is always looking for greener solut ions .’ Mark Llewellyn, Revive! managing director, says: ‘We were an early adopter of water-based paints to cut out solvents and have paperless invoicing as part of developing a bespoke Revive! app for franchisee­s which generates invoices.’ The Revive! franchise costs £27,500.
