USE SHEEP’S WOOL ON YOUR GARDEN

-

WOOL isn’t just for jumpers — you can also use it on your garden, thanks to a new type of fertiliser inspired by old English gardening books. FloraPell (£5.40, manufactum.

co.uk) is a pellet fertiliser made from rough, unwashed sheep’s wool that you scatter on your beds and mix in with the soil or use as a mulch.

It is suitable for all soils and indoor plants, too, because sheep’s wool contains all the main nutrients required by plants ( which the pellets release as they break down).

It is remarkable because it can absorb up to 3.5 times its weight in water, meaning less evaporates from the soil into the air after watering.

WATER SAVING: For a garden that takes an hour of watering a week, you’ll save 300 litres — four baths full.
